AI Revolution: Unleashing the Power, Shaping the Future and Embracing Responsibility
Michael Mattmiller, Senior Director, State Government Affairs, Microsoft
As new AI technology grabs headlines and captures the imaginations of businesses and consumers alike, organizations have a unique opportunity to harness the power of AI to drive value faster in their businesses while allowing them to shape the future of every industry. In this session, we will discuss how AI tools and solutions can accelerate productivity and human capability. The session will also address the limitations of AI technology, regulatory considerations, and how AI can be used responsibly.
Michael Mattmiller is the US Government Affairs Industry Team Lead at Microsoft. He previously served as the City of Seattle?s Chief Technology Officer. In this role, he led the creation of the city?s consolidated information technology department, modernization of key enterprise systems, and migration to cloud computing services. In addition, Michael expanded the City?s digital skills education program and led a broadband program that has increased availability of gigabit broadband service throughout the city. Previously, Michael was a consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he helped federal agencies secure and manage their technology investments. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration and Masters of Science from George Washington University.

Dr. Behrooz Shirazi, Deputy Division Director, National Science Foundation
Dr. Shirazi is an accomplished researcher, and his areas of expertise include sustainable computing, pervasive computing, distributed systems, parallel processing, and computer architecture. His work has been supported by NSF, NASA, DARPA, the Department of Justice, and other organizations. He has been published extensively in well-regarded journals and conference proceedings.

Power Cyber: The Symbiotic Relationship among Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing
Dr. José-Marie Griffiths, President, Dakota State University
Dr. José-Marie Griffiths is the president of Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota. President Griffiths has spent her career in research, teaching, public service, corporate leadership, economic development, and higher education administration. She has served in presidential appointments to the National Science Board, the U.S. President?s Information Technology Advisory Committee, and the U.S. National Commission on Libraries and Information Science. She has recently been appointed a member of the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence, part of the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for 2019 and is chairman of the Workforce Subcommittee for the commission. She has led projects for over 28 U.S. federal agencies such as the National Science Foundation, NASA, the Department of Energy, and various intelligence and military agencies, over 20 major corporations such as AT&T Bell Laboratories and IBM, in over 35 countries, and worked with seven major international organizations, including NATO and the United Nations. She has received over 20 significant awards in science, technology, teaching and the advancement of women in these fields.
