Metro COG predicts 50,000 coming to FMWF

A recent demographic forecast by the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Council of Governments (Metro COG) projected more than 50,000 jobs will be added to the region over the next 30 years. In preparation for the workforce increase, the Fargo-Moorhead West Fargo Chamber Foundation has already jumped into action using the Ignite Initiative and the Community Concierge Program. In combination, both programs focus on attraction, acclimation, retention and development, a strategy proven to strengthen workforce in other regions.

The Ignite initiative is designed to drive continued success for our business community and has multiple components. The Regional Workforce Training System is a systematic approach focusing on development in the agriculture, manufacturing, and technology industries. Ignite FMWF is an online platform that links job recruitment, skill building, and career navigation into one collaborative resource to build a highly skilled workforce for North Dakota and Minnesota businesses. It also provides the opportunity to shape the future of our region’s workforce by connecting business leaders with educators and students.

The Community Concierge Program is designed to welcome all newcomers and their families to the region by showing them all the reasons we love and call this place our home. Community champions and Chamber Foundation staff will welcome, connect, guide, and offer white-glove services to individuals in entry-level positions, up to senior-level executives, as they are deciding on or transitioning to live and work in our region.
