On April 12, Chamber President and CEO, Shannon Full; Moorhead Mayor, Shelly Carlson; and Clay County Commissioner, Jenny Mongeau hosted a Minnesota business roundtable with over 35 area leaders to discuss priorities specific to Clay County. The purpose of this roundtable was to hear directly from Chamber members, business owners and citizens.

Wednesday, April 26, 2023Metro COG predicts 50,000 coming to FMWF
A recent demographic forecast by the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Council of Governments (Metro COG) projected more than 50,000 jobs will be added to the region over the next 30 years. In preparation for the workforce increase, the Fargo-Moorhead West Fargo Chamber Foundation has already jumped into action using the Ignite Initiative and the Community Concierge Program.

Monday, April 24, 2023The Chamber Foundation's UpSkill-A-Thon awards 12 individuals with over $10,000
In partnership with Microsoft and Community Skills Initiative, the FMWF Chamber Foundation hosted its first UpSkill-a-Thon in North Dakota and the Minnesota counties of Clay, Becker, Wilkin, and Otter Tail. The competition was part of The Foundation’s Ignite initiative and ran from February 1 to March 31.

We were honored to welcome Marcus Luttrell to our community as this year's Voices of Vision keynote speaker. Luttrell has dedicated his life to be of service and inspiration, which he showed our community on April 20, when he shared his story with all who attended the Voices of Vision event. Thanks to the nearly 2,000 Chamber and community members and hundreds of military service members in attendance, Voices of Vision 2023 was a great success, whereas we could all be touched by Luttrell's inspiring story

In February, the Delta by Marriott in Fargo was packed full of Chamber and community members to hear from national keynote speakers and panels of regional experts as we discussed the future of our economy. Douglas Duncan of Fannie Mae and Ron Feldman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis pulled the curtain back and gave attendees an in-depth look at the current state of various facets of our economy, as well as their predictions for 2023. The FMWF Chamber is announcing its official move from its current office within the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead to a temporary office location within the Cass County Electric Cooperative building in Fargo. The Chamber and the City of Moorhead have enjoyed a productive partnership for over two decades, working closely together to bolster the regional economy and foster business growth. The Chamber’s upcoming move marks another chapter, one that is founded on continued collaboration and regionalism.

Currently, Senate File 2 (SF2) is moving through the Minnesota State Senate and is to be heard in the Senate Health and Services Committee tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. We are asking Senator Rob Kupec of District 4, who is a member of this committee, to oppose this bill, in an effort to keep payroll taxes low and to protect small and medium-sized businesses from burdensome mandates.
