The FARGODOME recently turned 30 years old and has hosted over 3,000 events, welcoming more than 14 million guests. With a financial impact of $24 to $42 million for our region each year, there is no doubt that this venue plays a significant role in the vitality of our region. Recently, the FARGODOME shared plans to reimagine the stadium to benefit the FMWF community. This proposal includes renovations and expansions to enhance the guest experience, operational efficiency and accessibility.

On October 3, panelists at The Chamber's Eggs & Issues event will have a detailed discussion about the estimated $140 million project and what new changes our community can expect, such as:

    Expansion and Renovations

    • A 90,000 square foot conference center on the south side of the dome to include 45,000 square feet of conference space, a commercial kitchen and other services.
    • A 12,000-square-foot expansion will be added on the west side of the building, stretching to Albrecht Boulevard. This will include a plaza and lobby space, much like what is on the east side of the building and currently considered the main lobby.
    • An increase in female restrooms from 134 to 262.
    • An increase in male restrooms from 133 to 190.
    • Accessible seating and companion seats will increase from 43 to 112 and be distributed throughout all seating areas.
    • The FARGODOME Authority says the concourse expansion will allow more food and beverage options, ‘elbow room’ for people to move around and hopefully cut down on lines for both concessions and bathrooms.

    Funding

    • The estimated project total is $131 million, which includes a roughly $45 million convention center.
    • Fargo residents will be voting to approve a 20-year quarter-cent sales tax increase and a three percent lodging tax increase to support this major project.
    • The FARGODOME will utilize $30 million from its permanent fund.
    • All new taxes for the project would expire after 20 years.
    • A 2019 economic impact study found that 55% of FARGODOME patrons are non-local. Out-of-town visitors spent about $12.7 million per year in retail, $11.7 million per year on food and beverage and $7.3 million per year in lodging.
    • It is estimated that the FARGODOME will generate $24 to $42 million for our region annually.
The Chamber supports the FARGODOME's proposed project plan.
