Business Leading Civic Life.
Communities Built to Last.
The Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce is proud to launch the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE). This project is a first-of-its-kind regional initiative to inspire, empower, and equip business-minded leaders for public service.
Why it matters:
We’re at a pivotal moment for civic engagement. Across the nation — and right here in our region — participation in public life is fading. Fewer people are voting, running for office, or stepping into leadership roles. When business and community leaders stay on the sidelines, we leave the future to be shaped by those who may not share our vision for growth, jobs, and opportunity.
Courage changes everything. Strong communities are built by people who act — who vote, volunteer, and serve. Civic engagement isn’t just good citizenship; it’s the foundation of a thriving economy and a vibrant region. Our collective willingness to lead today will determine the strength of our communities tomorrow.

For Businesses
Your business has the power to shape the future. Through CCE, you gain the resources and relationships to turn civic involvement into a core part of your company’s DNA — influencing the conversations that drive growth, innovation, and opportunity.
For Individuals
CCE helps individuals gain the confidence, knowledge, and connections to take part in civic life and influence the future of our region.
It starts with one step: to get involved.
At the Center for Civic Engagement, we believe everyone has a role to play. Our commitment is to:
-
Cultivate Community Leaders
Encourage and prepare individuals to step into a leadership role, whether serving on a board, running for office, or contributing through volunteer service.
-
Invest in People
Provide resources, training, and opportunities that make civic participation accessible, flexible, and rewarding for people at all stages of life and careers.
-
Foster a Culture of Service
Build a community where civic involvement is valued and celebrated, ensuring that participation in public life strengthens, not hinders, personal and professional growth.
-
Lead by Example
Share nonpartisan election information, host community discussions, and connect citizens with mentors and pathways into public service so more people feel empowered to participate.
True progress takes courage — the courage to step forward, to listen, to collaborate, and to lead. If we take no action, nothing changes. Together, we can move our region forward — one conversation, one vote, one leader at a time.
