A Legacy of Leadership and Service: Celebrating Jeffry J. Volk

By Shannon Full, President and CEO, FMWF Chamber

Jeffry J. Volk, 2025 Legacy Leader

2025 Legacy Leader, Jeffry J. Volk.

Get to know Legacy Leader Jeffry J. Volk, who will be celebrated at The Chamber’s Annual Celebration on Oct. 29, 2025.

Some leaders leave their mark in buildings, policies or titles. Others leave it in the people they’ve lifted up and the communities they’ve made stronger. Jeffry J. Volk? He’s done it all.

For more than four decades, his steady leadership and quiet commitment to service have shaped not only an engineering firm, but the entire Fargo Moorhead West Fargo region.

This year, the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber will honor Jeffry as the 2025 Legacy Leader Award recipient at the Annual Celebration on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The event will celebrate his career, his service to the community and the example he sets for leaders everywhere. It’s a chance to reflect on what we’ve accomplished as a region, recognize the people who make progress possible and be inspired by the difference one person can make when purpose guides every decision.

From Rural Roots to Regional Leadership

Jeffry grew up on a dairy farm near Raleigh, North Dakota, and attended St. Gertrude’s High School. Life on the farm taught him discipline, responsibility, and the value of hard work—lessons that would guide him long before he earned his civil engineering degree from North Dakota State University

After college, Jeffry joined Moore Engineering. What started as a first job turned into a career spanning more than 40 years. He eventually became President and CEO of Moore Engineering and later CEO of Moore Holding Company (now Vistal). Under his leadership, Moore grew into one of the region’s most respected engineering firms, modeling the power of employee ownership and long-term community investment alongside business growth.

Leading Beyond the Office

Jeffry’s influence extended far beyond his company. He took on leadership roles with the Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation, the NDSU Foundation, The Chamber, the Jeremiah Program, Boy Scouts of America, Youth Soccer, the Fargodome Authority and Holy Cross Catholic Church. At the national level, he served on the Executive Committee of the American Council of Engineering Companies of North Dakota and later as their national director.

No matter the role, Jeffry approached it with humility, vision and a focus on helping others succeed. His leadership shows that lasting impact comes from service, not just titles.

A Legacy of Service and Family

Jeffry and his wife Jeanie have made giving back a family value. They established endowed scholarships at NDSU to support the next generation of engineers and nurses. Their four children and six grandchildren have grown up witnessing what it means to live with generosity, commitment and faith.

Jeffry’s dedication has been recognized with the West Fargo Community Service Award, leadership roles with the Red River Joint Water Resource District and North Dakota Water Users Association, and multiple engineering design awards.

Why Jeffry Stands Out

The Legacy Leader Award honors individuals who shape our region through business excellence, community leadership and service, and Jeffry’s story embodies each of these qualities. He has built companies, strengthened institutions and uplifted others along the way.

His legacy lies not in accolades but in the lives he has touched and the communities he has strengthened. His career is a testament to the impact one person can make when leadership and service are rooted in purpose.

Your Opportunity to Celebrate Jeffry

Jeffry’s story is a reminder that leadership isn’t measured by titles or awards, but by the lives touched, the communities strengthened and the example set for others to follow. His dedication to service, business and community has left a lasting impact on our region, and the Annual Celebration is where we take the time to honor that legacy.

Join us on Wednesday, Oct. 29, as The Chamber shines a spotlight on Jeffry’s remarkable journey. Connect with fellow leaders, hear stories of Jeffry’s influence and leave inspired to make a difference in your own way.
