Reflections from participants of the 2026 Leadership FMWF Class: Nikki Braaten, Corey Eidem and Erin Larsgaard.

As the year progresses, participants in Leadership FMWF are continuing to build on their learnings while strengthening connections across industries and throughout the community.

Through immersive sessions, collaborative projects and hands-on experiences, members of the cohort are gaining new perspectives on leadership and discovering how their roles connect to the broader success of the region.

This month, Nikki Braaten, Corey Eidem and Erin Larsgaard share how the program is shaping their leadership journeys and influencing the work they do every day.

Nikki Braaten

Sourcing Manager, Bobcat Company

As a sourcing manager at Bobcat Company, Nikki Braaten manages people, works closely with cross-functional teams and leads internal and external relationships that help keep operations running smoothly. She says Leadership FMWF has strengthened how she approaches those responsibilities by helping her better understand her leadership style and how she communicates across different personalities.

Her biggest takeaway so far has been the opportunity to better understand herself as a leader.

“My biggest takeaway has been learning more about myself as a leader.”

Through the program, Braaten has reflected on what motivates her and how her personal values influence the way she sets goals and makes decisions. That self-awareness, she says, has helped her show up more intentionally in both her career and the community.

Leadership FMWF has also broadened her perspective on the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo region. Through the program, she has gained a deeper appreciation for the people and organizations working to strengthen the community.

“I’ve learned how many individuals and organizations are dedicated to making our region stronger.”

The relationships within the cohort have been equally impactful, as participants challenge and support one another while bringing diverse experiences to each discussion.

For anyone considering applying, Braaten encourages them to take the leap.

“Apply. You won’t regret it.”

Corey Eidem

Director of Sponsorship and Advertising, FMWF Chamber

Corey Eidem works closely with businesses across the region to build partnerships and create sponsorship and advertising opportunities that connect organizations to the broader business community.

Leadership FMWF has helped him think more strategically about how that work contributes to the region’s long-term growth and impact.

One of his biggest takeaways has been seeing the power of collaboration firsthand.

“Through the sessions and my CCI project, I’ve seen firsthand how businesses, nonprofits, schools and local leaders all play a role in solving real problems.”

That experience has reshaped how he views leadership.

“It’s shown me that leadership isn’t about having all the answers, but about being willing to listen, ask better questions and bring the right people together.”

The connections formed through the cohort have also been meaningful. Engaging with peers from different industries and backgrounds has challenged him to think differently and approach his work with a broader perspective.

For those considering applying, Eidem says the experience can have a lasting impact.

“Leadership FMWF challenges you to think bigger, connect deeper and see the community through a wider lens.”

Erin Larsgaard

President and Partner, Wold Johnson, P.C.

Erin Larsgaard recently stepped into the role of president at Wold Johnson, P.C., after more than a decade with the firm.

“I recently became the President and am quickly recognizing I have a lot to learn.”

She began her career at the firm nearly thirteen years ago as a runner while in college and has worked her way through the organization. Now leading the firm, she says Leadership FMWF has helped her navigate new responsibilities with greater confidence and perspective.

“This program has been instrumental in giving me the confidence to navigate new challenges and understand multiple perspectives.”

One experience that stood out early in the program took place during a ropes course challenge, where participants faced obstacles high above the ground.

“I can honestly say I would not have been able to complete most of them without the encouragement of my group.”

That support has carried through the program as the cohort continues to build meaningful relationships and encourage one another along the way.

Leadership FMWF has also given Larsgaard new insight into the community through behind-the-scenes tours and conversations with regional leaders, deepening her appreciation for the strength of the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo region.

For those considering applying, her advice is simple.

“No hesitation, you need to apply!”

Building the Next Generation of Regional Leaders

As Leadership FMWF continues, participants are gaining new insights, developing meaningful relationships and strengthening their connection to the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo community.

Applications for the 2027 Leadership FMWF class open in April for individuals ready to expand their leadership potential and deepen their engagement with the region.
