Business leaders participate in a panel discussion during The Chamber’s 2026 Annual Meeting, sharing how engagement strengthens leadership and the region’s future.
Leadership rarely happens in isolation. The strongest leaders are those who step beyond the day-to-day responsibilities of their own organizations to engage with the broader community around them.
At The Chamber’s 2026 Annual Meeting, a panel of regional leaders explored how involvement through Chamber programs, events and initiatives helps shape both individual leadership and the future of the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo region. The conversation featured JT Froning of Legacy Plumbing and Heating, Kara Jorvig of Allegro Group and Levi Otis of Ellingson Companies. Together, they shared how collaboration, engagement and perspective help leaders navigate challenges and identify opportunities that benefit not just their own organizations but the entire business community. The conversation reinforced an important idea: when leaders engage, the entire region moves forward.
Leadership grows when you broaden your perspective
As a leader, it’s easy for your focus to stay within the boundaries of your own organization. Your priorities revolve around your team, your customers and the day-to-day operations that keep your business moving. But leadership expands when you step into conversations that reach beyond your industry.
Through Chamber events and programs, business leaders regularly connect with professionals from industries they might not otherwise encounter. These conversations expose leaders to new ways of thinking about workforce challenges, economic trends and leadership strategies.
That broader perspective often brings valuable insights back into your own organization. When you learn how other leaders approach challenges and opportunities, you strengthen your ability to guide your own team.
Collaboration strengthens the business community
Another theme that surfaced throughout the discussion was the importance of collaboration. This region is home to leaders from a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, health care, construction, professional services and technology. When those leaders share ideas and experiences, they create a stronger and more resilient business environment.
Collaboration allows businesses to tackle larger challenges together, whether that involves workforce development, economic competitiveness or infrastructure investments that support regional growth. When leaders participate in these conversations, they help shape solutions that benefit both their own organizations and the broader business community.
Leadership extends beyond your organization
For many leaders, engagement with The Chamber creates opportunities to contribute in ways that go far beyond their day-to-day roles. Business leaders often bring their experience into civic conversations, workforce initiatives and regional partnerships. That involvement helps ensure that decisions affecting businesses are informed by real-world perspectives from those who operate within the local economy every day.
When leaders share their expertise in these spaces, they help strengthen the pipeline of leadership across the region.
Momentum comes from leaders who step forward
This year’s Annual Meeting carried the theme Cleared for Takeoff, reflecting the momentum building across the region’s business community. But momentum doesn’t appear on its own. It grows when leaders step forward to connect, collaborate and contribute their ideas.
When you engage in conversations that shape the future of our region, you become part of a network of leaders working toward shared success. When business leaders come together with purpose, the impact extends far beyond any one organization.
Stay engaged with the business community
The conversations that began at the Annual Meeting continue throughout the year through Chamber events, programs and initiatives that bring leaders together. If you’re looking to connect with fellow business leaders, gain new perspectives and contribute to the future of the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo region, explore upcoming Chamber opportunities to get involved.
