Prior to working at Bushel, she spent 10+ years doing fundraising, development, and program management at a public broadcasting station, a nationally accredited art museum, and a regional chamber of commerce. These days when she's not analyzing marketing statistics, writing, researching, or planning events, you can find her traveling with her husband and friends, lounging at the lake, spoiling her nieces and nephews, reading business and management books, and spoiling her golden retriever, Birdie. A native of Borup, MN, she grew up on a family farm and was a terrible farm kid. To this day, she still doesn't know how to drive a stick shift.

    Monica Hart Monica Hart

I grew up in the cozy little town of Karlstad, MN. I graduated from North Dakota State University in 1997 with a degree in Interior Design. My first job out of college was at the NDSU Alumni Association (Go Bison!). My internship and first design job was at Ste. Marie Design, a hospitality firm, where I learned and practiced commercial and hospitality design until the firm closed its Fargo branch in 2002. I found employment with a builder and then a design center where I discovered a love of residential design and new construction. During these years, I passed the NCIDQ exam to become a certified interior designer. These various positions gave me the experience needed to realize my dream of owning my own business! I think, for any parent, balancing work and home life is a difficult juggling act.

While I love being an interior designer, I love being a mom even more. Owning my own business gives me the flexibility to balance (or juggle) both! I am a volunteer for various organizations including serving as a confirmation guide at church. I am also a board member of the Home Builder's Association, a member of the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber, North Dakota Interior Designers, and serve on the Events Committee at the Home Builders Association. Outside of work and volunteer activities, I love being with my family. My husband Phil, and our three sons are my great crew of boys! Our oldest, Griffin, is in grad school at MSU Mankato. Our middle, Marcus, is a freshman at Johns Hopkins University. Our youngest, Henry, is an 8th grader at Discovery Middle School. When we aren't at kiddo activities, I enjoy reading a book or magazine and look forward to a trip or two each year.

Life is busy and I love it that way!

    Missy Heilman Missy Heilman

A dream to be a mentor for young girls blossomed into thousands of girls increasing their self-esteem annually. Even in her wildest dreams, Missy Heilman could not have predicted the growth and impact BIO Girls continues to have across the Midwest. With a diverse background in business management and marketing, Missy owned her own marketing technology consultancy for 7 years prior to taking on the role of Director of Marketing in 2014 for a fast-growth professional services organization. In 2017, Missy left her full-time (paid) job and started focusing her time on growing BIO Girls. As the Executive Director of BIO Girls, Missy works to ensure all decisions are mission-centric, serves as the chief program architect, and directs the vision of the organization. Yet her favorite role continues to be Site Director where she works directly with young girls to find their inner worth. Having impacted 10,000 girls in 10 years, BIO Girls has created a movement to provide preventative mental health programming to adolescent girls across the upper Midwest. A mom to three girls and wife to husband, Tom, (the thrill-seeking, mountain biking aficionado who pushes Missy outside her comfort zone anytime they are on two wheels), Missy balances her time with family duties and a love for adventure. Whether it is traveling (the mountains are calling), mountain biking, running, competing in triathlons or cheering her kids on in their activities, Missy tackles it all with enthusiasm (oh, and she loves 80’s music and a theme party). Missy is a graduate of the University of North Dakota where she competed in Track and Field and earned degrees in Exercise Science and Nutrition. As a recipient of an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, Missy went on to earn an MBA from NDSU. Often described as 'fearless', Missy's favorite piece of advice for the young and old alike is not to fear failure.

    Rachel Stone Rachel Stone

Chicago native Rachel Stone moved to the Fargo/Moorhead area over 21 years ago, to help her parents in ministry and has been on an adventure ever since. She is the proud mother of 3 adult sons; Immanuel, Samuel, and Gabriel. Rachel has devoted her life to philanthropy. With several years of involvement on SENDCAA Head Start’s Parent and Policy committee, she saw this as an opportunity to spread the word about the importance of childhood literacy. This organization's mission became her pageant platform, and she soon became a national spokesperson for the Headstart program. In 2006, she made history when she earned the title, becoming the 1st African American woman to be crowned Mrs. North Dakota International. It was then that it seemed her life took off. This great opportunity to speak on many stages opened up doors for her to pursue a modeling career. Rachel has previously worked for both Fargo and Moorhead Public Schools for several years. It was here that she saw the many issues, gaps, and struggles between the students, and teachers. Working with our young girls in both Fargo and Moorhead Public Schools reminded her of her childhood years, and how she had vowed to help others break cycles in their lives. Determined to fulfill her vow of being a big sister and mentor to others, in 2014 Rachel started her own youth empowerment nonprofit called P's & Q's Etiquette LLC, where she focuses on teaching elementary, middle, and high school youth leadership skills. This organization has been able to grow in large part to the grant award she has received through the FM Area Foundation and The Initiative Foundation. In addition to teaching students’ leadership skills, she enjoys modeling, is a cosmetologist and a recording artist. Her single “You Are” is available on iTunes. Rachel’s strong faith in God & passion for empowering others is what drives her. Her most recent adventure led her into deep waters, as she ran a campaign, and was selected to serve the last 4 years on the Moorhead School Board. She also started her company (Rachel Stone Enterprises) and launched her own youth leadership curriculum called, “LEADERLICIOUS”. Rachel’s favorite saying is,“Born for someone else” because she believes that life is about purpose and that through her story she can give others hope and inspiration. Rachel credits her success to her Leaderlicous students and her parents, Gloria & Paul Shields, who taught her the importance of service and helping others reach their greatest potential!
