Chamber Wins Event of the Year Award at MACE 2017
Moorhead, Minnesota (May 5, 2017) – The Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce received the Event of the Year Award at the 2017 Mid-America Chamber Executives (MACE) Conference this week in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The award honored The Chamber’s Military Appreciation Night at the RedHawks, an event that started six years ago to provide a memorable night of fun to show our gratitude for the men and women who serve our country. This event is one that has grown exponentially through the years to become a premier event of the summer season, continuing to sell out the past three years. This past summer, we were able to provide over 1,000 military members and their families complimentary game tickets, T-shirts and a pre-game picnic with games, giveaways and a special appearance from the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales.
“While Military Appreciation Night is a Chamber event combined with a game of baseball, it’s a true community partnership,” said Jim Parsons, vice president of finance & operations for The Chamber, who accepted the award at the conference. “It’s really an inspiring event and the least we can do to thank our region’s veterans. But it wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of the RedHawks, veteran’s organizations, our Military Affairs committee or the event’s presenting sponsor, D-S Beverages.”
The annual MACE awards are given by the MACE committee as an example of the highest examples of hard work, passion and effort displayed by chambers across a six-state region. The Event of the Year award demonstrates an excellent chamber and is judged on criteria such as value to the community and chamber, resonance within their community, ongoing effects and popularity, measurable results and innovation.
“It was a surprise and an honor to get the news that this event won such a prestigious award,” said Craig Whitney, president & CEO of The Chamber. “It is fitting that the award was announced as I was in Washington, D.C., for a National Guard reception in support of our local Happy Hooligans. Honoring our military is a continued priority for our Chamber. I can’t wait for this year’s event!”
