    The Internal Review Specialist is responsible for evaluating methodologies, testing internal controls, and completing reviews to ensure compliance and quality within internal practices while also ensuring alignment with internal policies, federal, state, and industry regulations.  This position will be responsible for recommending improvements in internal control structures; and providing input, feedback and training to team members throughout the Bank regarding regulatory requirements or changes. The Internal Review Specialist will also assist in the areas of credit review and quality control where they will help ensure quality practices throughout lending programs and practices at Western.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    Quality Control

    Assist with the coordination and oversight of an effective Quality Control compliance program.  Utilize internal control structures to measure and ensure sound practices throughout the bank and specifically in our lending programs.  Conduct loan quality and compliance reviews of mortgage loans selected for monthly audits by re-verifying information and checking documentation to ensure compliance with established regulations and investor guidelines.

     

    Internal Audit

    Ensures compliance with regulations and controls by examining and analyzing records, reports, operating practices, and documentation; recommends opportunities to strengthen the Bank’s internal control structure.  Stay abreast of and analyze developing industry and compliance trends, frauds or schemes, and changes to laws and regulations pertaining to regulatory compliance. Collaborate with other Bank areas of emerging risks, new or amended laws, regulations, or agency guidance, recommend and implement changes and controls to mitigate those risks.

     

    Credit Review

    Conduct file reviews by auditing files on a regular basis to ensure loan policy is successfully implemented; communicate any findings to management and appropriate staff.  Conduct appraisal reviews on a regular basis and ensure necessary compliance and regulatory policy is successfully implemented; Summarize findings in an effort to communicate credit review results, trends, recommended solutions and suggestions, and acknowledging best practices to internal departments.

    Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience required. Minimum of three years related financial institution experience preferred.   Experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing programs and procedures preferred.
