BT 2019 Nov The Focus Mindset: How to Stay on Task in a Distracted World
-
Date and Time
Wednesday Nov 20, 2019
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM CSTDescription
We live in a world with 70,000 thoughts that travel through our head a day. Thoughts that come and go no matter what we do. Of those thoughts, 80% are either rooted in the past or the future, with only 20% in the present. More alarming is that only half thoughts are positive, and half of those are relevant to what you are doing. With a human attention span only lasting 8 seconds, how do we ever accomplish anything?
This session will equip you with the tools to know what thoughts to keep in your focus window in mind so that can stay on task at work and hit the goals you set out to reach. Attendees will also learn to identify common workplace distractions, triggers, and action steps to take to regain focus.
What will you learn?- Understand the conscious competence model and recognize where you are at and where you need to go.
- Identify the largest distractions in your workplace.
- How to focus on those thoughts that are present, positive and relevant.
- Create a focus action plan for how you will become better in the workplace in the future.

Founder and CEO, Sports Chiropractor and Coach
Karla Wolford enjoys helping and encouraging people find their potential. In her life, she is always striving to be “Better than Yesterday” and encourages others to do the same. In a society where upwards towards 90% of people sit all day at work, teaching people how to move properly is one of the best gifts a doctor can give. As a Chiropractor and a coach in the Fargo-Moorhead area, she appreciates working with people who may be overcoming an old injury and finding ways to teach them how to move differently and more effectively to avoid future injuries. She has the ability to instill functional movements into the young and old alike.
Karla was born and raised in Barnesville, Minnesota. She pursued a pre-medicine undergraduate degree at Concordia College, Moorhead, and majored in Biology and Exercise Physiology. She went on to graduate with honors from Palmer College of Chiropractic West and Summa Cume Laude from Logan University with a Master’s Degree in Sports Science and Rehabilitation.
Since then, she has become a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP®), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), obtained her International Chiropractic Sports Science Diploma (ICSSD), and Level 1&2 CrossFit trainer Certification and is a Level 2 USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach.
This training qualifies for 1.5 CPE credits through SHRM
