It’s been a whirlwind first month here in my new position as Chamber CEO and president. My first weeks have provided a chance for me to take it all in. From meetings with the staff, board, external stakeholders, members and community leaders, this active listening has helped me realize the great strength and assets that exist in Fargo Moorhead West Fargo. I am also full of ideas and inspiration as I see the challenges and opportunities of this region.
 
I have tremendous passions around public policy, small business services, and workforce and talent. And as we kick start 2021, I am driven by the opportunity for growth and prosperity, to drive a strong economy and a talent pipeline for our metro. As our workforce and our communities evolve and change, investments in people, professional development, and in diversity and inclusion in our communities, is vital.
 
As we begin this new year, I will be looking to our members and the community for strategic partnerships and innovative ideas around how we can drive growth and prosperity for our region together. I am driven to look toward our collective goals and missions, with a mindset of abundance rather than competition. And I am so excited to seek new and diverse relationships and resources.
 
It will be essential for us to work together. In the face of significant global competition, we can, and we will, rise to the occasion. Through collaboration and connection, we each will have a role to play in the strategy of our future.
 
My leadership style is very much a catalytic change agent, and I am always looking for ways to improve. I want to build on our foundations while bringing fresh ideas forward. You will hear me say often that different isn’t always better, but better is always different.
