What is Fargo Moorhead’s major industry?
Fargo Moorhead lies in the Red River Valley of the North, amidst prime agricultural land. The naturally fertile soils originate from Glacial Lake Agassiz which flooded the valley during the last glacial event and deposited the materials that became the soil we use today. North Dakota leads the nation in the production of more than a dozen crops, including flaxseed, canola, durum and spring wheat, dry peas and beans, and sunflower. As a result, agriculture is the leading industry in North Dakota.

Once known as the “Breadbasket of the World,” the Red River Valley ships world-class food and farm equipment and products around the globe.

Fargo Moorhead is also an emerging leader in the physical sciences, information technologies and life sciences industries. Learn more from the Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation.
